The Christmas TAG

What is your favorite Christmas movie?
This year's christmas tree!
My favorite Christmas movie is probably The Polar Express. I remember watching it as a child in primary school after playing in the snow. We were all warming up whilst drinking hot chocolate and watching this movie. Since then, it has held a special place in my heart.

Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
I open my presents on Christmas Eve along with probably everybody else in Belgium who celebrates Christmas. We celebrate the religious side of Christmas rather than the Santa Clause part of it. We do have a Santa Clause-like figure who delivers presents to all the children on the 6th of December and he is called Sinterklaas.

Do you have a favorite Christmas memory?
I do! My favorite Christmas memory took place at our family’s Christmas Eve dinner last year. My sister, who was pregnant at the time gave me a jar that read “Will you be my godmother?”. So, now I have an adorable goddaughter!

What is your favorite festive food?
My favorite festive food is the entire Christmas Eve menu that I have with my family every single year: rabbit with sweet and sour sauce, croquettes, apple sauce and chocolate mousse as dessert.

What is favorite festive scent?
This is, probably, the scent of my grandmother’s Christmas food.

Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
Every year I have a nice Christmas dinner with my family and we open all of our presents.

What tops your tree?
I have no idea what it is called. But you can look at the picture and decide for yourself! (I do know it’s pink.)

What was the one (crazy, wild) gift you always asked for but never received?
This would be a swimming pool. Still waiting though…

What is the best part of Christmas to you?
uhm, Christmas and pretty much everything that comes with it. Drinking hot chocolate every night of December wearing Christmassy clothes, buying presents, receiving presents, spending time with family,… I could go on for hours.

This was my Christmas TAG! Feel free to do it yourselves. You can then leave the link below so I will be able to check yours out!

Merry Christmas!

Visiting Ideas

Do you know that little mark you get after being pinched? It doesn’t stay long. It just visits you for a while. Ideas tend to visit me in a similar way. They pop in wave around, do a silly dance and leave again. Unfortunately, they might never return. They don’t have to of course. Because, when I concentrate on my tiny visitor, very quickly other ideas start to flutter around it in chaos creating a blob, slightly bigger than the former mark. Then, other ideas start to flutter around the other ideas, creating a slightly bigger blob. As the blob grows, the idea grows. It becomes more specific. Its edges start to take form. It becomes something. A character, a place, a sequence of events,.. anything.

When was the last time you told someone how you felt? And I don't mean giving your point of view on something that has occurred. No, I am talking about really expressing how you feel, what is going on in your head or heart.
every single person on this beautiful planet is thinking. This means there is a never ending stream of thoughts flowing all over the world every second of every day. Everybody thinks and everybody feels. Everybody. However, not many of us dare to express these thoughts and feelings. I cannot understand this. Why is it that we are afraid of something so common? We chose to ignore ourselves out of fear for what? Rejection? We are afraid to be rejected by someone else so we decide to just do it ourselves before they even get the chance?
We are stuck. We are all stuck in our little heads, surrounded by our familiar thoughts. We feel save here from the outside world. The outside world where everything is cold because frozen hearts are out there doing whatever they want. They are judging, bullying and making nasty comments. However, they are not the only ones out there. There are some warm hearts too. They have put on their coats of friendly thoughts and have faced the cold outside world. One friendly thought at a time, they are making it into a better place for all the other warm hearts taking shelter inside. They are building snowmen and putting lights in trees, hoping that when the other warm hearts look out of their windows and see how wonderful the cold can be they might want to come outside too.
What I am trying to say is that you might feel like your thoughts or feelings don’t matter. You might feel as if when you express yourself you are bothering someone else with it. However, there is a great possibility that you are not the only one feeling this way. And, by speaking up you might help someone who feels the exact same way as you do.
So, speak up! Let the cold outside world know what is going on in that beautiful head of yours. Make this world a better place. Make it into a place where warm hearts don’t have to shiver anymore.
